After so many years (3 I think) since it was market extinct, without any firmware upgrades, few enthusiasts were still standing attached to this device enhancing despite other more interesting devices are around. These enthusiasts were providing fixes, drivers and firmware upgrades the manufacturer wasn’t able to deliver.

So I was thinking to make an upgrade to WM6.1 with juiciest programs available at the moment, with the hope this would turn in a more useful piece of device. There is also WM6.5 option but it seems it has some problems with the programs speed, also the power drain is a lot bigger because that version is optimized for Windows phones.

The information from performing the upgrade was compiled from various websites.

Environment and software used

Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1, 64 bit (Windows XP SP3 32 bit for the flashing utility)

Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.6965 (MS ActiveSync 4.1 for the flashing utility)

FSC ROM Backup (http://fsc.newplowe.com/download.htm)

PocketLOOXFlashTool (http://fsc.newplowe.com/download.htm)

WM6.1 firmware (WM 6.1 20757–06.00 from http://fsc.newplowe.com/download.htm)

Model models/editor/spot.mdl not found and models/error.mdl couldn’t be loaded

And then the editor window closes. I’ve noticed that recently a major update was made on the CounterStrike Source … the latest features were added, those existing only on Beta version. Maybe this was messing with the SDK models and other editor content structure.

Still looking for a possible solution to fix this … I invested a lot of time in the current map.

Well this is for those who are still playing DarkThrone Beta and want to get higher especially in these last days of the game.

The player works in the same way as the Gold Player, you run the application inside the web browser, and also you need to have Java plugin installed and trust the applet certificate. To access the player you just open the web browser to http://gold.ovisual.com/beta
At the application startup you need to provide the DarkThrone beta account and password and you are up and running. The interface works in the same way as Gold Player, but is a bit simplified, it has only attack functionality (because who needs a recruiter in beta?!? ).
Mainly you have to specify what exactly you want to attack then you are ready! You are unleashing hell to all the targets in a matter of seconds.
Of course, at the end of each attack don’t forget to deposit the money in the bank.

Enjoy!

I’m proud to announce a new release of Darkthrone GoldPlayer version 1.0.17.

This release has lots of bug fixes:
– now you can use authenticated proxy servers
– complete settings are saved on the client’s computer
– attacker scanner have been patched
– applet load optimization

For those who don’t know what this GoldPlayer cand do for you here are some few words. This player is loaded in your web browser by accessing this link. You need Java plugin to start this application.
What it does? It can log into your DarkThrone Gold account and perform the recruit clicks for you, auto repair your fortress if you are attacked, spend your gold if it reach a max value of troops, or armory, or just deposit it in the bank. It also knows to perform spy and attacks missions on targets.
All the communication with the DarkThrone server is done using your computer, so if you want something to be done over night you have to keep the application running.
